UK to Study Using Cannabis-Based Medicine to Treat Brain Tumors

The United Kingdom National Health Service and Brain Tumour Charity are partnering on research to determine whether cannabis-based medicine Sativex paired with chemotherapy medication temozolomide can treat glioblastoma, a recurrent brain tumor, the Guardian reports. Once underway, it will be the first such study of its kind in the world.

Maryland House Speaker Adrienne A. Jones has indicated that she will support a cannabis legalization referendum on 2022 ballots and announced a plan to create a cannabis workgroup to lay the framework for the industry if the reforms are approved by voters, Maryland Matters reports. Jones said the House “will pass legislation early next year” to put the question to voters.
